2014 Les Darons

les darons2014 Les Darons – 91-94 Points Wine Advocate

Grenache ~ Carignan ~ Syrah

“A wine that blew me away…thrilling notes of black and blue fruits, violets, and peppery spice to go with a medium to full-bodied, elegant, seamless profile on the palate…striking purity, integrated acidity and a great finish.  It should drink nicely on release and have 7-8 years of overall longevity.”

Jebb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

Can Blau

UnknownCan Blau is produced from a blend of Samsó (Cariñena), Garnacha (Spanish Grenache), and Syrah. The wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 9 months and the end result is a gorgeous red that has complex aromatics or with ripe black fruits, licorice and spice. On the palate the wine is fresh, flavorful, big and fruity and it finishes with notable yet soft tannins. Another gem from Spain and the Juan Gil portfolio.

91 Points from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

If you like rich and chewy wines…this is a MUST TRY! Aromas of toasty oak, graphite, balsamic, incense, and black fruits are followed by a dense, powerful Tempranillo from the great 2009 vintage. It’s a great value for a rich and bold wine. Big flavors of espresso, mocha and dark cocoa.  Simply put:  it’s YUMMY!

La Novella White Nebbiolo

This is by far one of the most interesting AND delicious whites I have ever tasted!  La Novella is made from Nebbiolo which is a red, sultry, intense grape that makes the famous RED wines of Barolo and Barbaresco.  To make this as a white wine, the grapes are picked early in the season before they mature but at a time when they have a nice acidic backbone and soft floral notes.  The color is only in the skins of the grapes so in order to make a white wine, the skins are removed immediately to maintain the white color.  This is one of those wines that not only tastes great but has a great story and is the perfect wine to makes friends with!

Cheers! Heather
